BacTrac 4300 Microbiological Analyser

The successor of the most flexible microbiological impedance analyser today! Is used in microbial laboratories to deal with almost all tasks the microbiologist is familiar with from the classical agar plate. The system can be working under different temperature zones allowing the investigation of various groups of micro-organisms. The BacTrac is successfully in operation in food and food ingredients and cosmetics industries. It also plays a leading role in the official food hygiene monitoring in various countries. The scope of applications is not limited to any matrix and therefore users can refer to a wide catalogue of routine protocols. SY-LAB's own laboratories with years of experience in impedance analysis are at our customers’ disposal including but not limited to method development, calibration and validation services.

Technical Data

Microbiological analyser-
Micro- organism detection based on impedance splitting method.

Dry - Incubator
Each BacTrac 4300 unit contains two 32 sample well, dryblock incubators that are independently thermostatted.
Up to 12 units ( 768 wells, 24 incubators ) can be controlled by one PC. Each sample well has high reliability electrical contacts that accommodate either disposable or reusable measurement cells. Each incubator section is covered by a convenient , easily cleaned glass cover.

Temperature Control
The temperature range of each 32 well incubator section can be adjusted in software by the control PC from 0º C to +65ºC and maintained with an accuracy of +/- 0.1 ºC.
In addition to temperature information being available on the control PC, each BacTrac 4300 unit has a 2 line vacuum fluorescent display that provides cell location and temperature information. For incubator temperatures from 0ºC to 7º C above room temperature, an optional water circulation cooler is required.

Measuring Cells
Direct impedance measurements for bacteria can be made using either 20 ml disposable plastic or 10 ml reusable glass cells. Glass cells and their electrode assemblies are autoclavable. Disposable plastic cells are sterile and pre-assembled. Custom formulated impedance media is available for reconstitution and filling by the user or cells can be ordered pre-filled. Indirect impedance measurements of yeasts and moulds can be made using nested cells: a 20 ml reusable outer cell with integral electrodes used with a disposable plastic (7ml) inner vial that mates with it.

Dimensions, weight, power consumption
Dimensions: 430 mm (W) x 640mm (D) x 380mm (H) (16.9 x 25.2 x 15.0 inches). Weight: 34 Kg (75 lbs.). Power requirements: 230 V, 3.9 A, 50 Hz or 115 V, 7.8 A, 60 Hz. (Please specify with order). Dimensions, weight and power requirements are for the BacTrac 4300 unit only and do not include the control PC.

Electronics
Each BacTrac 4300 has a built-in computer subsystem for incubator temperature control, impedance measurements, fault monitoring and bi-directional communication with the control PC. Impedance measurements are made at 1 KHz and each sample cell location is polled every 10 minutes.
Incubator temperature set points are controlled by the PC and maintained by the 4300's on board computer.
